If you have no idea what I’m talking about - chances are you’ve missed the MTV reality crib phenomenon that has taken the world (well, bits of it) by storm. Jersey Shore takes four ripped, day-glo tangerine, pretty much morally bereft ‘guys’ and puts them in a beach house with four day-glo tangerine, pretty much morally askew ‘ladies’ who look like they’ve taken repeated blasts in the face from Homer Simpson’s make-up gun. Then gives them the following brief: drink, party, hump, bitch-slap and make television.
Snooki has been one of the Shore’s shining lights from the get-go. Preferring to go by the deservedly more intellectual ‘Nicole’ in her authorly guise, La Polizzi weaves a “funny, and sexy tale that captures the heat, the energy, the fun, and the drama of Jersey Shore.”
At first peek, it reminds me of a stab a classmate made at a sexy story when we were 14. She wasn’t great at English. She spelt vagina three different ways: vag, vig, and veg (which presumably counts as one of your 5 a day). But it was fun. And there you have it. Guilty pleasure, literary zone out – pick up a copy and celebrate all that is right with society today.
